Stanley Erickson, 73

Goodridge - Stanley Erickson, 73, died Wednesday, November 15, 2000 at the home of his sister, Marion Vraa of Goodridge.

Funeral services were held at 11 Erickson,Stanley-color a.m. on Saturday, November 18 at Ekelund Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge, with Rev. Terry Olson and Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Tanya Verbout was the organist. Casketbearers were John Hoffman, Jim Knutson, Palmer Lovly, Lloyd Lund, Dick Miller, Edgar Miller and Ole Wiskow. Honorary casketbearers were Willie Good, Edward Colson, Joe Horachek, Leonard Olson, and Lewis Quam in addition to the entire church congregation of family and friends. Interment was in Reiner Cemetery in Reiner township of Pennington county. Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

James Stanley Erickson was born on June 3, 1927 in Duluth, the son of Selmer and Bertha (Lee) Erickson. When he was two years old, his family moved to Pennington county where he grew up and attended school in the Goodridge area.

In 1950, he was united in marriage to Alice Welch. While he was a farmer for most of his life, Stanley was employed by Erie Mining Co. in Hibbing for five years and for several winters at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls.

He was a member of Reiner Free Lutheran Church, Goodridge Lions Club, Eagles, Farmers Union, NFO and Goodridge Historical Society.

Stanley enjoyed family celebrations and visiting and having coffee with friends.

Survivors include a sister, Marion Vraa of Goodridge; a brother, John of St. Paul; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; many cousins; and special friend, Ethel Johnson of Bagley.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law.
