Audrey Erickson, 74

Brooklyn Park - Audrey Erickson, 74, died Saturday, June 12, 1999 at Martin Luther Manor Nursing Home in Bloomington.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, June 16) at 10 a.m. at Brooklyn Park Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park. Visitation was held on Tuesday, June 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel in Hopkins.

Visitation will also be held on Thursday, June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18 at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating.

Audrey Geneva Nelson was born on September 6, 1924 in Holt, the daughter of Axel and Anna (Nygaard) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Audrey lived with her family in the Holt community until 1927 when they moved to Hansboro, ND. In 1935, they returned to the Holt community. After her father died that same year, she moved with her mother and family to Rosewood. Audrey attended schools in Holt and Alsen, ND and attended Rosebank School at Rosewood. Following school, she worked at the Woolworth store and Sears retail store in Thief River Falls.

On January 17, 1945 Audrey was united in marriage to Donald Erickson at Thief River Falls, and she continued to work at the Sears store for several years. In 1966, they moved to Minneapolis where she continued her career with Sears on Lake Street in the credit department. Audrey retired in 1989. Donald died in November of 1981. Audrey contined to make her home in Brooklyn Park until ill health forced her to reside in nursing care centers.

Audrey is survived by two sons, Gerald (Ruth) Erickson of Minnetonka and David (Deborah) Erickson of Lakeville; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five sisters, Marie (Harold) Coffman of Sun City, AZ, Shirley (Russell) Jasperson of Plummer, Marilyn (Duane) Kuzel of Grand Forks, ND, Gaylene Race of Manhattan, KS and Janice Matson of Thief River Falls; three brothers, Alton (Margaret) Nelson of Yankton, SD, and Eugene (Karen) Nelson and James (Diane) Matson, both of Thief River Falls; one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; stepfather, Thomas Matson; and one brother, Adrian Nelson. A00003B1999JN16
