Alfhild Erickson, 90

Greenbush - Alfhild Erickson, 90, died Thursday, December 4, 1997 at the Greenbush Nursing Home in Greenbush.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 6 at 3 p.m. at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau with Reverend Erling Huglen officiating. Interment was in the Falun Cemetery.

Alfhild Christine Boen was born September 4, 1907 at Malung, the daughter of Mathilda (Peterson) and R.E. Boen. Alfhild grew up and attended school in Malung.

On March 27, 1927 she was united in marriage to Carl W. Erickson at Roseau. The couple farmed and raised their children in the Falun area of Roseau County. In 1961 they sold their farm and moved their house into Roseau. Carl passed away in 1962, and Alfhild continued to live in her home until 1982 when she moved to North Star Apartments in Roseau. In 1992 she moved to the Greenbush Board and Care.

Known for her lefse making, Alfhild enjoyed music, hockey, dancing and playing cards and board games. She was active in the Four Season Senior Center in Roseau.

Alfhild is survived by two daughters, LaVonne Ammerman of Roseau and Janet (Jim ) Strandlie of Thief River Falls; one son, Norrel "Binky" (Eldyne) Erickson of Roseau; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edith Sonsteng of Roseau.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five brothers, Albert, Arthur, Rudy, Everett and Arnold; one sister, Anna; and one son-in-law, Forrest Ammerman.
