LeRoy Epley, 83

International Falls - LeRoy Epley, 83, died Thursday, July 16, 1998 at his home in International Falls.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 20 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls with Reverend Robert Ek officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were with Green-Larsen Mortuary, Inc.

LeRoy Epley was born on February 28, 1915 in Elk Creek, NE, the son of Harvey and Cora (Alderman) Epley. He lived in various towns in Nebraska before moving to Baudette in 1949. In 1954 LeRoy moved to International Falls where he has since resided.

He was united in marriage to Velma McCourtney on September 10, 1935. LeRoy was a farmer before going to work at Boise Cascade in 1954. He retired from the company in 1980.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was a well known baseball player in Nebraska where he played on the Epley Brothers team. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Velma of International Falls; one son Ronald (Linda) Epley of International Falls; four daughters, Marjorie (Chub) Hancock of Baudette, Maxine (Bill) Scholler of International Falls, Mary Lou (Mel) Milender of Bemidji and Norma (Del) Christianson of Thief River Falls; 22 grandchildren; one step-grandson; 36 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Rademacher of LaGrande, OR; Erma McCoy of Omaha, NE and Beatrice Schank of Beatrice, NE; and three brothers, Dale Epley of Conway, AR and Bob Epley and Donald Epley, both of Tecumseh, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Kimmel and Elva Alyor; and nine brothers, Ray, Elmer, John, Glen, Charles, Bill, Wilbur, Dean and Harvey Jr.
