
Thief River Falls - Beatrice Embury, 85, died Sunday, February 21, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23 at the United Methodist Church in Thief River Falls. Grace Hammer was the organist, and vocal music was provided by Judith Lawrence. Casketbearers were Tony Dorn Jr., Mark Embury, Buzz Marvin, Tom Goddard, Stan Wilson, and Dale Wennberg.
Honorary casketbearers were Don Stewart, Tony Dorn Sr., Jarvis Prichard, Dr. Earl Dagg, Dick Bjorkman, Jim Womack, Clark Hendrickson, Robert Kalass, John Autio and Wallace Tunberg. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Beatrice L. Van Oss was born on April 25, 1913 in Waubun, the daughter of Maxime and Anna (Pederson) Van Oss. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. Beatrice attended school in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot High School. While in high school she participated in basketball, volleyball and swimming.
On April 30, 1938 Beatrice was united in marriage to Russel Embury at Stillwater.
She enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, hockey and spending time with her family and friends. Beatrice was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Women's Auxiliary of the Elks Club and the Thief River Falls Golf Club.
Beatrice is survived by one son, Dr. Stephen (Kristin) Embury of Half Moon Bay, CA; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Sudow of Albuquerque, NM.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russel Embury; her parents; and three sisters, Ida Peterson, Margaret Friend and Florence Truax. A00003B1999FB24
