
Warren - Ruth Elseth, 86, died Sunday, November 8, 1998 at the Marshall Manor Good Samaritan Center in Warren.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Warren. Interment was in the Alma Lutheran Cemetery. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren was in charge of the arrangements.
Ruth Mabel Stanghelle was born March 14, 1912, the daughter of Ole J. and Emma (Pearson) Stanghelle. She attended elementary school in Alma township of Marshall county and high school at Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, ND and Argyle. She graduated from Argyle High School. After receiving teacher's training in Moorhead, Alma taught in one-room schools in West Valley, Alma and Nelson townships.
Ruth was united in marriage to Willard Elseth on July 17, 1937 in an outdoor ceremony at the home of Pastor Ronholm in rural Newfolden. The couple lived in the Alma community, Thief River Falls and and the city of Warren before making their home at rural Warren.
She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Warren where she was active in Covenant Women and teaching the high school Sunday school class. She also enjoyed teaching women's Bible studies in her home. Ruth delighted in her grandchildren. She often had them making scrapbooks and learning through her creative games and activities. She also enjoyed flower gardening and entertaining.
Survivors include her husband, Willard; two daughters, Delores (Bob) Ricker of Chicago, IL and Barbara (Gren) Weis of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; three sons, Bob (Mavis) Elseth and Elden (Roxann) Elseth, both of Warren, and Howard (Judy) Elseth of Texas; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant granddaughter; three sisters, Agnes Hunstad, Ethel Welin and Edna Stanghelle; and four brothers, Albin, Ragner, Elmer and Walter Stanghelle.
