Robert Egeland, 60

East Grand Forks - Robert "Berger" Egeland, 60, died on Thursday, January 22, 1998 at his home in East Grand Forks.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks. Burial will be at the Resurrection Cemetery of East Grand Forks in the spring. The Stennes Funeral Home of East Grand Forks was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert D. Egeland was born on January 26, 1937 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Nels and Philomena (Feist) Egeland. He grew up in the Grand Forks and Gilby, ND areas, and he attended school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Grand Forks, ND and in Plummer.

On August 1, 1964 Robert was united in marriage to Marilyn Kotrba at East Grand Forks. They made their home in East Grand Forks, and Robert drove truck for 41 years for area trucking firms. Due to ill health he retired in November of 1995.

Robert drove van for the Douglas Place in East Grand Forks and was a volunteer driver for Retired Senior Citizen's Program at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn of East Grand Forks; two daughters, Annette (Robert) Beach and Debbie Egeland, both of Minneapolis; his mother, Philomena of East Grand Forks; six brothers, John (Bonnie), Martin (Roxine), Patrick and Kenny, all of East Grand Forks, Wayne of Edwards, MO and Mike (Georgia) of Fisher; three sisters, JoAnn (Bob) Juneau of Longmont, CO, Norma Gregoire of Puyallup, WA and Diane Legvold of East Grand Forks; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nels; and a brother-in-law.
