Charles Efta, 45

Greenbush - Charles Efta, 45, died Wednesday, July 12, 2000 as the result of an ATV accident near Badger.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann and Father Bob LaPlante officiating. Theresa Vatthauer and Irene Walter were the eucharistic ministers, and special music was provided by Jeanne Novacek and Roberta Cogley. Giftbearers were members of the Robert and Marsha Efta family. Dayne Efta, Justin Stanislawski and Shawn Stanislawski were servers, and Elizabeth Klein was reader.

Casketbearers were James Kukowski, Tom Hoverson, Ernest Vatthauer, Myles Efta, Larry Slawson, Eric Klein and Mark Saeland. Interment was in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.

Charles William Efta was born on April 2, 1955 at Greenbush, the son of Raymond and June (Szymanski) Efta. He grew up in the Greenbush community, graduating from Greenbush High School in 1973. Chuck was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.

He farmed part-time with his father near Greenbush and was also employed at American Crystal Sugar at Drayton, N.D. for about 20 years. He had resided at Bosemont, N.D. and was presently making his home at St. Thomas, N.D.

Chuck enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his parents, Ray and June of Greenbush; one brother, Robert (Marsha) of Badger; six sisters, Patricia (Hank Tiber) Efta of Minnetonka, Julie (Andy Viner) Efta of Durham, England, Jacqueline (Paul) Demes of Western Springs, Ill., Elizabeth (Eric) Klein of Roseau, Kathleen (Todd) Kohner of St. Louis Park, and Laurie (Carl) Aust of Savage; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Charles was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles. A00003B2000JL19
