Hopkins - Shirley Eckers, 62, died Thursday, July 2, 1998 at Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 6 at Mizpah United Church of Christ in Hopkins. The Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel in St. Louis Park was in charge of the arrangements.
Shirley Sorenson was born on July 25, 1935 near Thief River Falls, the daughter of Henry and Coral (Muzzy) Sorenson. She attended school in St. Hilaire and graduated from high school in Thief River Falls. She moved to Minneapolis in 1954.
Shirley was united in marriage to Robert Eckers Jr. on February 14, 1959 at Hopkins. She was employed as the assistant administrator at Park Nursing Home up until the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Cheri (Jeffrey) Defries of Prior Lake and Faye (Tom) Tiedman of Savage; one son, Scott of Savage; four grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Glenn) Davidson of Moorhead and Audrey (Harold) Isaacson of Federal Way, WA; three brothers, Henry Jr. of Brandon, SD, Roger (Carol) of Luverne and Orville of Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Harlan.
