
Thief River Falls - Grace Ebbighausen, 82, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Reverend Gary Johnson officiating. Ida Nordvall was the organist, and Diane Johnson was the vocalist. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Grace Hanson was born on November 22, 1915 near Highlanding in Pennington county, the daughter of Ole and Theone (Johnson) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Pennington county. During her teen years, Grace moved with her family to the Iron Range where her dad found work. The family later returned to the Highlanding area.
In about 1935, Grace moved to Fergus Falls where she worked as a nanny. While there, she met Frederick Ebbighausen. The couple was married on September 7, 1938 in Fergus Falls. In the early 1940's they moved to Thief River Falls where Grace has since resided. Fred died on June 14, 1992.
Grace enjoyed league bowling and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Zion Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with family. Other favorite activities included crocheting, gardening, canning and spending time at the casino playing the nickel slots with her friends.
Grace is survived by one daughter, Francine (Darold) Olberg of Anoka; three sons, Ronald (Annette) Ebbighausen of Pinewood, Harvey (Kathy) Ebbighausen of Burnsville and Duane (Cindy) Ebbighausen of Bemidji; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alma Nelson of Thief River Falls and Myrtle Overbye of Nashwauk.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred and her parents.
