Melvin Dyrseth, 91

Middle River - Melvin Dyrseth, 91, died Sunday, August 9, 1998 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Erskine.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 13 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Reverend John Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in Moose River Cemetery in Gatzke.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday, August 12) at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Melvin Martin Dyrseth was born on February 9, 1907 in Benville township of Beltrami county, the son of Ole and Thora (Mattson) Dyrseth. He was baptized and confirmed at Valle Church and attended elementary school at School District #104 in Benville township. Following his schooling he worked on farms in the area and later on road construction.

Melvin was married in 1935 to Agnes Knutson at Grygla. The couple farmed in the Grygla area in Beltrami county. For 20 years, Melvin was employed at the Keane Seed Farm in Kennedy and later at Land O'Lakes. The couple made their home in Middle River where Melvin was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Melvin is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Barber of West Palm Beach, FL; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Dyrseth of Grygla; and several nephews and nieces, including special niece and caregiver Irene Molskness.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Clarence and Olai; and two sisters, Myrtle Kaeding and Dena Dyrseth.
