
Red Lake Falls - Donald Dupont, 66, died on Friday January 16, 1998 as a result of a traffic accident near Hallock.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, January 21 at 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Thief River Falls with Pastor Sherman McCornick officiating. Sylvia Grindley will be the organist, and Nancy Dailey will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Mike Dupont, James Dupont, Marshall Dupont, Nathan Tretter, Jeff Kenfield and Jason Kenfield. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery near Red Lake Falls.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Donald LeeRoy Dupont was born on April 9, 1931 in Red Lake Falls, the son of Archie and Eugenie (Charest) Dupont. He was raised and attended school at Red Lake Falls. Donald farmed south of Red Lake Falls until entering the U.S. Army and serving from 1955 until his discharge in 1957.
On November 30, 1957 he was united in marriage to Tersilla Vanitti at Sadona, AZ. The couple returned to Red Lake Falls where Donald farmed until 1967. He worked at Detroiter from 1966 to 1972, Cameron and Sullivan Associates from 1973 until 1981 and E. W. Wylie Trucking until 1983. He then purchased his own truck and worked for Karries, Inc. of Grand Forks, ND until the time of his death.
Donald is survived by his wife, Tersilla of Red Lake Falls; four children, Roger (Cynthia) Dupont of Red Lake Falls, Robert (Connie) Dupont of Lancaster, Margaret (Gerald) Tretter of Grand Forks, ND and Dario Dupont of Red Lake Falls; eight grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Madeline) Dupont of Terrebonne; one sister, Norma (Robert) Hunsinger of Astoria, OR; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alrick Dupont; and one sister, Irene Nowak.
