
Eveleth - Mabel J. Digerness, 98, died Tuesday, April 14, 1998 at Arrowhead Health Care Center in Eveleth.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18 at United in Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth with Reverend David Pearson officiating. Burial was in the Eveleth Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home in Eveleth.
Mabel J. Arveson was born on October 9, 1899 in Hickory in Polk County, the daughter of Martin and Hannah (Amundson) Arveson. She attended school in Wanke and Neptune. She was employed at Patrick Woolen Mills in Duluth prior to her marriage to Joe Digerness on September 30, 1921. She was a resident of Fayal township near Eveleth from 1925 until 1988 when she became a resident of the Arrowhead Health Care Center.
Mabel was an avid gardener and provided vegetables and berries to the Eveleth Farmer's Market for many years. She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth.
Mabel is survived by one daughter, Alida Stajer of Eveleth; two sons, Warren (Barbara) Digerness of Eveleth and Stanley (Brenda) Digerness of Birmingham, AL; one daughter-in-law, Marianne Digerness of Eveleth; one sister-in-law, Anna Arveson of Gonvick; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 1987; one daughter, Edna Hartman in 1957; one son, Harry Digerness in 1997; her parents; and brothers and sisters.
