 Iris Dicken, 81

Thief River Falls - Iris Dicken, 81, died Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 17 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Ray-mond officiating. Phyllis Dalager will be the organist, and the soloist will be Marshall Vagle.

Casketbearers will be Robert Dicken, Richard Dicken, Duane Dicken, Clifford Larson, Bob Wald and Paul Wold. Honorary casketbearers were Mary Ellen Melby, Vicki Meunier, Allan Ness, Steven Fellman, Jennifer Ness, Danielle Meunier, Ashley Meunier, Mitchell Ness, Trevor Ness, Brady Meunier, Alyssa Melby, Murphy Fellman and Kaylee Melby. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. The Green Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Iris Charlotte Larsson was born on December 31, 1917 in Gotlands Island, Sweden, the daughter of Karl Axel and Marie Ellen Larsson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She lived in Sweden until she was nine years old and moved with her family to America. The family made its home in Ellsworth, WI. Iris grew up and attended school in Pierce County, WI. When she was 15 years old she moved to Connecticut to be a nanny, and when she was 17 years old she moved with her family to St. Hilaire.

On September 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to Arthur Dicken. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Iris worked at Northland Produce for many years and later worked at Arctic Cat and Holiday Motel. She also spent a lot of time babysitting grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Iris was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She enjoyed baking, sewing quilts and mending jeans. She spent a lot of time gardening and tending to her yard.

Iris is survived by two daughters, Bonnie (Curtis) Ness and Nancy (Barry) Fellman, both of Thief River Falls; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Teckla Perkins. A00003B1999DC22
