Red Lake Falls - Walter Deutschman, 84, died on Saturday, March 21, 1998 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Memorial mass will be held today (Wednesday, March 25) at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Kathie Knott will be the organist, and special music will be provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls is in charge of the arrangements.
Walter John Deutschman was born on September 11, 1913 at Red Lake Falls, the son of John and Martha (Adler) Deutschman. He was raised and attended school in Red Lake Falls. He graduated from Lafayette High School and the University of Minnesota Music Department. During the war, he lived in Utah and worked at a munitions plant. He returned to Red Lake Falls where he worked at the Co-op Store and cared for his mother for many years.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Walter is survived by one sister, Rose Deutschman of Austin, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; one brother, Richard Deutschman; and one sister, Margaret Broderick.
