Luverne W. Dagen, 85
İİİ Karlstad - Luverne W. Dagen, 85, died unexpectedly at his home in Karlstad on Tuesday morning, August 10.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 13 at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad, with Pastor Gary Halverson officiating. Casket bearers included grandsons, Preston Dagen, Dana Husby, Todd Eklund, Reece Setterholm, Garrett Setterholm and Brandon Setterholm. Honorary casket bearers included granddaughters Kristen Eklund, Danielle Husby, Erin Marquez, Sarah Wilson, Janna Wackerfuss and Jolee Wackerfuss. Interment was held at Karlstad Cemetery in Karlstad.
Luverne Waldren Dagen, the son of David and Sarah (Grose) Dagen, was born on May 15, 1919, in Springbrook Township, Kittson County, near Karlstad. He attended school, grew to manhood, and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
İİİOn Oct. 19, 1940, Luverne was united in marriage to Frances Thrane at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Greenbush. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Springbrook Township for many years. The couple moved into Karlstad in 1982. Luverne served as president of K ñ M Packers of Karlstad, president of the Karlstad Elevator for 24 years, and served on the Karlstad Development Corp., as well. He was a director of the Red River Valley Potato Growers Assc., and served on the Springbrook Town Board.
İİİHe was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Karlstad and a charter member of the Karlstad Eagles.
İİİ He is survived by his wife, Frances; two sons: Gary (Janice) of Bemidji and Troy (Mary) of Cody, Neb.; three daughters: Luanne (Nate) Wilson of Portland, Ore..; Janakaye (Ron) Husby of Park Rapids; and Sheree (Glenn) Setterholm of Argyle; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
