Lucille Cota, 72

Red Lake Falls - Lucille Cota, 72, died Monday, March 20, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

` Mass of Christian burial was held on Friday, March 24 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Kathie Knott was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir. Casketbearers were Lucille's grandchildren, Lori Hagl, Brian King, Jeff Cota, Jason Cota, Jessica Cota and Chad Cota. Burial was in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.

Lucille Marie Marieau was born on October 23, 1927 near Red Lake Falls, the daughter of Arthur and Eva (Huot) Marieau. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church in Dorothy. She was raised near Red Lake Falls and graduated from Lafayette High School.

On November 25, 1947, Lucille was united in marriage to Adelore Cota in Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls where she owned and operated the Vogue Dry Cleaners and ran the Montgomery Ward catalog store for a number of years. She retired due to health concerns in 1991.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, playing cards, gardening and fishing. She was a member of a bowling league and was treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Adelore Cota of Red Lake Falls; three sons, Jerome (Gale) Cota of Thief River Falls, Alan Cota of Red Lake Falls and Mike (Kathy) Cota of Moorhead; two daughters, Shirley (Scott) King of Maplewood and Carol (Tom) King of Warroad; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lawrence Marieau and Kenny Marieau. A00003B2000MR29
