Thief River Falls - Tillie Conklin, 97, died Saturday, May 15, 1999 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 19) at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt with Reverend Greg Walter officiating. Yvonne Larson was the organist, and special music was provided by Lois Peterson. Casketbearers were David Myhrer, Donald Larson, Eldon Augustine, Marlin Augustine, Orvus Benitt and Emery Horien. Burial will be in Holt Cemetery.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Tillie Constance Knutson was born on December 15, 1901 in East Valley township of Marshall county, the daughter of Hans and Martha (Sorum) Knutson. She attended Sunnyside School and was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church at Holt.
On January 1, 1925 she was united in marriage to Arthur C. Conklin. The couple lived in Minneapolis for a year before moving to Holt where they farmed until Arthur's death in 1973. Tillie moved to Thief River Falls in 1974. In 1988 she moved to Valley home, and in 1998 she moved to Oakland Park Nursing Home.
She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church of Holt and was active in its Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and fishing.
Tillie is survived by one son, Milton (Lois) of Glenwood; one granddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, Laurie Skare on May 10, 1999; her parents; and four brothers and sisters.
