William Claffy, 77

Mansfield, Ma. - William W. Claffy, 77, died Saturday, August 26, 2000 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. Ma.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, August 29, at Highland Cemetery in Norwood, Ma.

William W. Claffy was born in Minnesota, the son of William G. and Florabell (Wickett) claffy. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, serving as a Chief Aviation Mate until his retirement in 1963. He then worked as an equipment engineer for the John Match Company. He retired in 1990 after 27 years.

William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Isabel "Kip" (Mutch); a daughter, Sharon L. (Anthony J.) Uva of Norton, Ma.; a son, William J. (Margaret) of Deerfield, N.H.; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Herbert and Jerry Claffy, both of Minnesota. A00003B2000OC11
