Rudolph Christianson, 81

Greenbush - Rudolph "Rudy" Christianson, 81, died Sunday, March 21, 1999 at his home in Greenbush.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, March 25) at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush with Pastor Ken Hart officiating. Linda Berg will be the organist, and vocal music will be provided by Arlene Jenson and Joanne Gunderson. Casketbearers will be Rudy's grandsons, Robby, Danny, Blake and Scott Christianson; Caleb Brewer; and Brede, Craig and Curt Christianson. Burial will be in Pauli Lutheran Cemetery, rural Greenbush. The Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush is in charge of the arrangements.

Rudolph Christianson was born on September 9, 1917 in Soler township of Roseau county near Haug, the son of Brede O. and Mathilda (Pederson) Christianson. Following his graduation from Badger High School in 1935, Rudy farmed the family homestead in Soler township.

He married Myrtle Lee on October 12, 1940 in Roseau. The couple farmed until 1975 when they sold the farm to their youngest son. Rudy worked part-time at the Greenbush Hospital and for Blawat Farms until the spring of 1998.

Rudy enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and entertaining and was a member of the United Free Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer for many years. He also served as treasurer of Soler township for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle of Greenbush; two sons, Ray (Lillian) and Don (Sharon), both of Greenbush; two daughters, Marilyn (Ted) Peterson of Dilworth and Eleanor (Coy) Brewer of Melrose, NM; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mabel Copeland of Kansas City, KS, Oline Erickson of Badger, Alma Wold of Greenbush, Ruth Erickson of Roseau and Clarice (Leonard) Swart of Badger; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Ben and Melvin; and one sister, Olava.
