Kennedy - Jane J. Christian, 56, died Friday, July 24, 1998 at her home in Kennedy.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 27 at 10 a.m. at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy with Reverend Carl Seamon officiating. Music was provided by Charles and Patti Swanson. Casketbearers were Greg Bogestad, Brent Bowman, Mike Jensen, Dennis Gray, Todd Truedson and Ryan Truedson. Interment was in the Kennedy Cemetery. The Hughes Funeral Home of Hallock was in charge of the arrangements.
Jane Joy Oistad was born on September 2, 1941 on the Nelson family farm at Strandquist, the daughter of Herbert and Alice (Nelson) Oistad. At the age of five, she moved to Kennedy where she grew up and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1959.
On October 24, 1959 she was united in marriage to Arnold Christian at Maria Lutheran Church in Kennedy. While Arnold served in the U.S. Air Force they lived in California, Grand Forks, ND, Virginia, Duluth and Hawaii. When Arnold retired in 1977 they moved to Donaldson. In 1979 they moved to Kennedy. Jane was employed at the Grand Forks Air Base for a time and worked in cafes in Grafton, Hallock and Kennedy. She also worked at the nursing home in Hallock. She was a member of Maria Lutheran Church of Kennedy.
Jane is survived by her husband, Arnold of Kennedy; three daughters, Nona (Robert) Hultgren of Thief River Falls, Joy (Joey) Hauert of Kennedy and Connie (David) Creviston of Badger; two sons, Kevin (Sherry) Christian of Council Bluffs, IA and Jason Christian of Kennedy; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Kathleen (Larry) Bogestad of Donaldson; and two brothers, Howard (Linda) Oistad of Billings, MT and Donald (Eleanor) Oistad of New York.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gary and Brian in infancy.
