Valborg Chommie, 92
Bloomington - Valborg R. Chommie, 92, formerly of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000.
A celebration of her life was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 19, at Abundant Life Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. The Cremation Society of Minnnesota was in charge of the arrangements.
Valborg R. Aasgaard was born on October 1, 1907 in DeForest, Wisc. He was married to Hans Chommie, and the couple resided in Thief River Falls.
Val was very active in the community and founded the Friendship Club. She was named the Minnesota Merit Mother of the Year Award in 1984.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Johnson; two sons, Hans and Edward; a sister, Mary Hinderlie; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Val was preceded in death by her husband, Hans; three sons, Peter, Robert and Bud; a daughter, Mary; and a sister, Gudrun. A00003B2000JN14
