Victor Charles, 91

Brooklyn Park - Victor F. Charles, 91, died Tuesday, February 16, 1999 at a Brooklyn Park hospital following a recent surgery.

Victor was born on February 8, 1908 in Iowa and spend his early years in Iowa and Illinois. He married his wife Sue just before entering the U.S. Navy during World War II. The couple adopted two children.

Vic was an educator and administrator in Colorado, Alaska and Minnesota. He came to Thief River Falls in 1961 as the second president of Northland State Junior College, now Northland Community and Technical College. He was the dean of the school when it was first located on the third floor of Lincoln High School and later when it was moved to its present location on Highway 1. He left Thief River Falls in 1974 after accepting a similar position with Anoka-Ramsey Community College. He retired in 1978, and he and his wife have since made their home in the Minneapolis area.

Vic was a member of the American Legion, Rotary, Masons, Shrine and other community services organizations in Thief River Falls and the many other places where he lived. He enjoyed boating, traveling and helping young people.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; one son, David of San Diego, CA; two granddaughters and one sister in Illinois.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen. A00003B1999FB24
