Antoinette Chaput, 99

Thief River Falls - Antoinette Chaput, 99, formerly of Oklee, died Saturday, December 26, 1998 at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee with Father Joe Richards officiating. Barb Melby was the organist, and Joan Bronken was the soloist. Readers were Lisa Chaput and Aaron Chaput. Casketbearers were Jim Chaput, Gary Chaput, Randy Chaput, Doug Chaput, Robert Chaput and Mike Person. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Oklee. The Petterson Funeral Home of Oklee was in charge of the arrangements.

Antoinette Marie Marceline was born on June 28, 1899 in Olga, ND, the daughter of Charles and Oithonsine (Boyer) Marceline. She was raised there and attended the St. Aloysius Academy of Oakwood, ND.

On March 28, 1921 she was united in marriage to Albert Chaput at Olga, ND. The couple farmed in the Olga and Pembina, ND area until 1951 when they left the farm and moved to Crookston. In Crookston Albert worked as a painter, and Antoinette worked as a waitress at the Crookston Hotel. In 1953 the couple moved to Watervilet, MI where she cooked at the convent for the sisters of St. Joseph Catholic School. In 1969 the couple retired and moved to Oklee. Albert died on November 16, 1971. In 1985 Antoinette moved to Valley Home in Thief River Falls. Since July of 1997 she has resided at the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center.

She enjoyed crocheting and playing cards and bingo.

Antoinette is survived by one son, Raymond Chaput of Oklee; five grandsons; one granddaughter; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Yvonne Fossum of Tigard, OR.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Eugene Chaput; one grandson, Jeffrey; one great-grandson, Justin; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
