Lawrence Cassavant, 83

Red Lake Falls - Lawrence Cassavant, 83, of Red Lake Falls died Sunday, June 15, l997 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.

Mass of Christian burial will be held today, Wednesday, June 18 at 1 p.m. at St. Dorothy's Catholic Church at Dorothy with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 6 p.m. wake service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and for one hour prior to services at the church today.

Lawrence Aime Cassavant was born December 2, l913 at Dorothy the son of William and Lucy (Benoit) Cassavant. He was raised in the area and attended rural school. He also attended the Crookston Agricultural School. On November 2, l941 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Betty Schmidt in San Francisco, CA. Lawrence enter the United States Army on May 30, l942 and served overseas. He was discharged on December 27, l945. Following his discharge the couple returned to the Red Lake Falls area where they have farmed since. He was a member of St. Dorothy's Catholic Church and the V.F.W. of Crookston.

He is survived by his wife Betty of rural Red Lake Falls; three children, Bill (Jamie) Cassavant of rural Crookston, Linda (Larry) Knudsen of Jackson, MI and Brent Cassavant and his fiance, Jackie Shockley of Red Lake Falls; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
