Stephen - Arthur W. Carlson, 94, died April 20, 1997 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, where had lived since 1996.
Arthur William Carlson was born on March 23, 1903, the son of Carl "Charlie" and Amanda (Olsson) Carlson in Augsburg township, Marshall County (rural Stephen) where he attended school. He later attended the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. He married Carrie Bengtson on January 2, 1933. They lived and farmed in Augsburg township until moving into Stephen in 1968.
Arthur loved to be with his family and to work on his farm. He enjoyed working with animals, especially horses.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie, residing now in Warren; their six children, daughters Ardyce (Gary) Whalen of Crookston, Marlys (Jack) Schearman of Dewey, AZ, and Inez (C. Truman) Spangrud, Tucson, AZ and sons, Wayne (Carol) of Grand Forks, ND; John (Lana) of Circle Pines, and Charles (Kathryn), The Dalles, OR, 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Ida Pankonin of St. Paul, and Mildred Dahlquist of Thief River Falls.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Interment was in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Stephen.
