Etowah, NC - Dennis Burkholder, 54, died Sunday, May 16, 1999 at his home in Etowah, North Carolina.
Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 at Etowah Baptist Church with Reverend Ray Talley officiating. Burial was in Etowah Cemetery. Asheville Mortuary Services was in charge of the arrangements.
Dennis Lee Burkholder was born on March 9, 1945 in Moorhead, the son of James and Ruby Burkholder. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended school in Gary.
He was united in marriage to Catherine Gusa on June 6, 1970 in Middle River. The couple lived in Thief River Falls and Holt, and Dennis worked for Arctic Enterprises testing snowmobiles. In 1974, they moved to North Carolina where he worked in research and development for Mother Earth News magazine until retiring due to ill health in 1989.
Dennis is survived by his wife Catherine; three children, Jamie of Charlotte, NC, Melissa of Louisville, KY and Michael of Etowah; three grandchildren; four sisters, Sharon Dahle of Alexandria, Kay (John) Cory of Marietta, GA, Midge (Harold) Green of Thief River Falls, and Jodee (Rick) Loll of Campbell; one brother, James (Sharon) Burkholder of Thief River Falls; Catherine's parents, Ray and Marion Gusa of Middle River; and his wife's sisters, brother and their families. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and many nieces and nephews.
