Emil Burdick, 84

Moorhead - Emil R. Burdick, 84, died Saturday, January 1, 2000 at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, January 5) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

Emil R. Burdick was born on April 2, 1915 at Thief River Falls, the son of Fred and Mary (Reance) Burdick. He grew up and attended school in Thief River Falls. From 1942 until 1945 during World War II he served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Emil returned to Thief River Falls where he married Clara Efteland on November 1, 1945. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls until 1963 when they moved to Crookston. In 1967 they moved to Moorhead. Emil worked as a diesel mechanic for International Harvester and then Massey Ferguson until his retirement in 1980. Clara died on March 6, 1990.

He was a member of the Moorhead Masonic Lodge and was the first person to serve two terms as its Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the El Zagel Shrine and Yorks Rite in Fargo and the American Legion and VFW in Moorhead.

Emil is survived by four daughters, Carol (John) Columbus of Red Lake Falls, Charlotte Olson of Gillette, WY, Renae Anderson of Moorhead and Murk (Dean) Hauglid of Fargo, ND; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A00003B2000JA05
