Edwin M. Broughton was born on April 5, 1923 in Pinecreek, the son of Edwin and Sophrona Broughton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1944. He was with the European Theater during World War II.
Ed was an educator for 17 years, owned and operated a women's retail store for 10 years and before retirement, worked for Bullocks Co. as its southern division manager.
He was a member of the Disabled Veterans, a life-time Lutheran, past Exalted Ruler of the Elks, BPOE 1308 of Grand Forks, ND; and a Mason of the Masonic Lodge in Crookston. He enjoyed fishing in Canada many summers. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois Broughton of Chico, CA; one daughter, Lindy Brauner of Los Altos, CA; two sons, Dr. Bruce Broughton of Victorville, CA and Bradley Broughton of Florence, AL; six grandchildren; his mother, Sarah Broughton of Sacramento, CA; three sisters and one brother.
