
Argyle - Clayton Broten, 82, of Argyle died Tuesday, July 22, 1997 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.
Clayton Broten was born on July 2, 1915 at Newfolden, son of Melvin and Olga Broten. He was a life long resident of rural Argyle where he farmed.
Known for his many years of fiddle playing, Clayton was a member of the Red River Fiddlers Association. He was also a member of the Marshall County Historical Society.
Survivors include one brother, Gordon Broten of Minneapolis; six sisters, Hazel "Olive" Proulx of Roy, WA, Grace Johnson of Bloomington, Doris (Elmer) Hagen of Rapid City, SD, Sheila (Jim) Moore and Helen Schantzen of Champlin, and Sylvia (Dennis) Pedersen of Minneapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Bucklin and brother, Omer Broten.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26 at 2 p.m. at the Alma Lutheran Church in Argyle. Interment was at Viking Cemetery, rural Viking. The Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren was in charge of the arrangements.
