
Thief River Falls - Irvin Brenna, 74, died on Monday, January 19, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 23 at 2 p.m. at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Special music will be provided by the Resurrection Choir. Burial will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gully.
Visitation will be held at the Green Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Wake service and at the church for one hour prior to services on Friday.
Irvin Brenna was born on December 8, 1923 in Eden township near Gully, the son of Milton and Inga (Olson) Brenna. He attended school and grew up in the Gully area. On July 24, 1944 he entered the United States Navy and was based out of Great Lakes, IL. Following his honorable discharge on May 24, 1946 he returned to Gully.
In 1957 Irvin was united in marriage to Jean Hennessey at Conway, ND. In 1958 they moved to Thief River Falls. While in Thief River Falls Irvin worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 11 years and the Minnesota Department of Transportation for 20 years. After Irvin retired in 1986 the family continued to reside in Thief River Falls.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends.
Irvin is survived by his wife Jean of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Barbara Brenna of New Brighton; one brother, Marvin of Proctor; and three sisters, Inez (Andrew) Gordon of Klamath Falls, OR, Gladys (Philip) Megordon of Palm Harbor, FL and Vivian (Halver) Evje of Gully.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Atwood, Kenneth and Clifford; and one sister, Ruby.
