James Bredeson, 63

Thief River Falls - James Bredeson, 63, died Friday, March 12, 1999 at his home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, March 17) at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Special music will be provided by Grace Hammer. Casketbearers will be Rolf Bredeson, Milton Burstad, Bob Olson, Tom Williams, Virgil Wold, Bob Nelson and Steve Carlson. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 16 from 4 to 8 p.m. with an 8 p.m. prayer service at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

James Elery Bredeson was born on July 8, 1935 in Thief River Falls, the son of Alfred and Theoline (Johnson) Bredeson. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He attended Lincoln High School, graduating in 1953. He spent some time working for Prichard's Construction Company.

James was in the National Guard for eight years.

On May 28, 1955 he was united in marriage to Jaqueline "Jackie" Olson at Zion Lutheran Church. For eight years the couple lived in Thief River Falls where James worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The couple then moved to San Gabriel, CA where he worked for the California Highway Department. In 1970 they moved to Bloomington where James worked for Robert E. Nelson at the Bobco Construction Co., Inc. in the Twin Cities area. He retired from construction in 1991, and the couple returned to Thief River Falls in August of 1996.

Jim enjoyed life, his work and family including the extended family that lived for years at their home.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Thief River Falls; one son Michael James Bredeson and his fiance, Christina, of Park Rapids; one granddaughter; one sister, Ruth Cockrell of Crookston; one brother, Robert (Yvonne) Bredeson of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne; and one sister-in-law. A00003B1999MR17
