
Greenbush - Genevieve Brazier, 85, died Thursday, March 30, 2000 at the Greenbush Nursing Home.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Father Don Braukmann in charge of the arrangements. Music was provided by Catherine Lorenson, Dorothy Brazier and Sheree Brazier.
Kristin Brazier and Kim Bergeron were the readers, and the eucharistic ministers were Leroy and Vivian Omdahl and Jim Bergeron. Todd and Angie Vedbratten, Kiley Brazier and Sebastian Bergeron were the gift bearers. Casketbearers were Genevieve's six grandsons, Patrick and Noah Lorenson, and Jason, Zachary, Jed and Luke Brazier. Burial was in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Greenbush. The Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush was in charge of the arrangements.
Genevieve Vera Emery was born on June 2, 1914 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Frank and Vera (Compton) Emery. As a young girl, she moved to the Greenbush area with her parents. She was raised and attended school north of Greenbush and graduated from Greenbush High School in 1932. She then attended a teachers college at Duluth and taught school in Strandquist.
On June 30, 1943, she married Frank John Brazier at Greenbush. They farmed in Barnett township of Roseau county, and Genevieve continued to teach in several area schools including Badger, Strathcona, Oslo and Lancaster. Frank Brazier died in June of 1968. After teaching for 28 years, Genevieve retired in 1976 and moved into Greenbush.
She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church groups and the Retired Teachers Association.
Genevieve is survived by two sons, Ron (Beth) Brazier of Prior Lake and Jerome (Barb) Brazier of Thief River Falls; one daughter, Colleen (Duane) Lorenson of Greenbush and Champlin; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delford Emery and Frank "Ellison" (Leona "Mickey") Emery, both of Greenbush; and two sisters, Pauline (Wayne) Sanders and Faye (Dale) Swenson, both in Washington state.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Jack Brazier; one granddaughter, Bess Lorenson; and two brothers, Warren and John Emery. A00003B2000AP05
