
Oklee - Omer Boucher, 93, died Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls.
Mass of Christian burial will be held today (Wednesday, February 23) at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee with Father Gary LaMoine officiating. Cindy Lambert will be the organist, and special music will be provided by Carolyn Rystad. Casketbearers will be David Bachand, Willard Bergeron, Harold Cyr, Bob Bluemke, Harold Lindquist and John Melby. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery near Oklee.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Petterson Funeral Home in Oklee. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Omer Boucher was born on June 28, 1906 in Lambert township of Red Lake county, the son of Peter and Marie (Bergeron) Boucher. He was raised on the family farm southwest of Oklee and attended rural school there. In 1947, he moved with his family to Oklee where he worked maintaining streets for the City of Oklee. On August 28, 1998, Omer entered the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls where he had since resided.
He enjoyed reminiscing, speaking the French language, reading and keeping up on current events.
Omer is survived by several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joe Boucher; and one sister, Aldia Boucher.
