
Crookston - Irene Botko, 74, died Wednesday, March 5, 1997 at Villa St. Vincent in Crookston. Arrangements were with Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 8 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Tabor with Rev. Thomas Junkert officiating. Burial was in Badger Creek Cemetery of Badger.
Casketbearers were Brad Erickson, Brian Erickson, Anthony Erickson, Mark Filipi, Michael Filipi, Kathy Kleinvachter and Todd Kleinvachter.
Irene Mable Heddan was born on October 17, 1922 in Stephen, the daughter of Albert and Olga (Holter) Heddan. She was Baptized in Bigwoods Lutheran church. She attended School District Number 70 in rural Stephen. She moved with her family to rural Greenbush. She was confirmed in Oiland Lutheran church in Greenbush. She moved to Warren. On June 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Frank Botko. They made their home in Farley Township, Polk County, where they farmed. She moved to the Villa St. Vincent in 1992. Frank died on March 12, 1994.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Farley Homemakers and she played in the Farley Kitchen Band. she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and baking and knitting.
She is survived by daughters Phyllis (Stephen) Erickson of Coon Rapids, and Janice (Aldon) Filipi of Warren; six grandchildren; mother Olga Heddan of greenbush; sisters Helen Roggenbuck of Anchorage, AK, and Doris Van Raden of Fargo, ND; and brothers Rudy and Myron of Badger and Mylo of Maple Grove.
He was preceded in death by her husband; father; and brothers Alvin and Earl.
