
Newfolden - Florence Borg, 76, died on Saturday, August 30, 1997 at Dakota Heartland Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, September 3, at 3:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Reverend John Jorgensen officiating. Special music will be provided by organist Sheila Nelson. Casketbearers will be Florence's grandchildren &endash; Nancy Gillund, Wayne Engen, Dean Engen, Corey Olson, Craig Olson, Shane Borg and Brandon Borg. Burial will be held at First Lutheran Church Cemetery in Middle River.
Visitation was was held Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home with an 8 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Florence Mabel Kolden was born on June 4, 1921 in New Folden township in Marshall County. She was baptized and confirmed at Holt. As a young lady she moved with her aunt following the death of her mother and graduated from Gary High School in 1939. Florence went on to school at Teacher's Normal Training in Thief River Falls. Florence was united in marriage to Birger K. Borg on September 11, 1943 in Holt. She taught at the Thief Lake School near Middle River and at the elementary school at Holt. In the fall of 1967, Florence became a teacher's aid at the Newfolden and Viking Schools where she worked until she retired.
Florence enjoyed playing cards, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with her family and many friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marlo (Robert) Engen of Newfolden and Mona (Bradley) Olson of Newfolden; three sons, Rudy of Middle River, Ronald of Red Lion, PA and Gary (Cindy) of Newfolden; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur (Deloris) Kolden of Middle River; special friend Reuben Haugen of Newfolden; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lorraine Huartson; three brothers, Morlan, Lester and Arvid Kolden; and one half brother, Thorvald Kolden.
