Thief River Falls - Nellie Borchardt, 81, died Friday, September 4, 1998 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8 at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls with Reverend Marcia Sylvester officiating. Special music was provided by Grace Hammer. Casketbearers were Melissa Rux, Chris Rux, Art Anderson, Vern Reierson, Clifford Reierson and Orville Ness. Burial was in Holt Cemetery in Holt. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Nellie Margaret Arnevick was born on September 9, 1916, the daughter of Andrew and Olga (Nelson) Arnevick, at Holt where she attended school and grew up. She was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. As a young lady she worked at various jobs around northwest Minnesota.
In 1936 she married Axel Bloom. On December 13, 1952 she was united in marriage to Fred "Fritz" Borchardt. Nellie worked in housekeeping at Oakland Park Nursing Home for many years. After Fred died in June of 1970, Nellie continued to make her home in Thief River Falls.
She is survived by one daughter, Ardell (Harold) Warner of Duluth; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Gina Rux of Thief River Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; one brother, John Arnevick; and one sister, Alma Staskivige.
