Josephine Bjorgaard, 86

Newfolden - Josephine J. Bjorgaard, 86, died Thursday, September 21, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 25, at Assumption Catholic Church in Florian with Father Dennis Wieland officiating. Donalda Kuznia was the organist. Casketbearers were Bryan Bjorgaard, Daren Wawrzyniak, Bernard Bjorgaard, Craig Wawrzyniak, Deon Wawrzyniak and Rick Warne. Interment as in St. Rose Cemetery in Argyle with Quanrud-DuBore Funeral Home of Warren in charge of the arrangements.

Josephine Kiedrowski was born on January 8, 1914 at rural Oslo, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Socha) Kiedrowski. She spent her early years in the Oslo area. After graduating from Oslo High School, she attended teacher's training and taught at several country schools.

On July 4, 1938, Josephine was united in marriage to Ben Otto Bjorgaard at Argyle. They made their home in Alma township of Marshall county near Argyle. Josephine owned and operated Bjorgaard Mercantile Store for 20 years. In 1971, she and Otto moved to Newfolden. Ben died on November 12, 1972.

She enjoyed gardening, quilting and making stuffed animals.

Josephine is survived by a daughter, Sharol (Dennis) Wawrzyniak of Newfolden; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Fontaine of Grand Forks, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Leverne Bjorgaard and Willis Bjorgaard; a daughter-in-law, Shirley (Willis) Bjorgaard; two grandchildren, Dean and Dana; and a brother, Ben.
