Gertrude Bizek, 86

St. Paul - Gertrude Bizek, 86, died Friday, February 2, 2001 at United Hospital in St. Paul.

Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5, at St. Columbia Catholic Church in St. Paul.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Blessed Catholic Cemetery in Greenbush with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush in charge of the arrangements.

Gertrude Lucy Dembiczak was born on January 7, 1915 at Lake Alma, Saskatchewan, Canada. She grew up and attended school in the Greenbush area. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.

On November 7, 1934, Gertrude was united in marriage to Albert Bizek at Greenbush. The couple farmed in the Greenbush area, first in Barto township of Roseau county and later in Hereim township. Gertrude was employed as a nurse's aid at Greenbush Community Hospital and Greenbush Nursing Home. Albert died on November 13, 1976, and in 1983, Gertrude moved to St. Paul to be near her children.

During the time she lived at Greenbush, she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Gertrude is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Phillip) Hallinan of St. Paul and Linda (Clifford) Lovejoy of St. Louis Park; two sons, Duane (Nylah) of St. Paul and Lambert (Jan) of Bloomington; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Kukowski and Anne Pietruszewski, both of Chisholm; a half brother, Henry Dembiczak in Hawaii; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son in infancy; a sister, Frances Kukowski; and a brother, Raymond.
