Carrie Birkeland, 94
Oklee - Carrie Birkeland, 94, died Friday, January 28, 2000 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Friday, February 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Marian Marquis will be the organist, and the soloist will be Donna Fossum. Burial will be held in the spring in Valle Cemetery near Oklee.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church. The Petterson Funeral Home of Oklee is in charge of the arrangements.
Carrie Birkeland was born on December 8, 1905 in Equality township of Red Lake county, the daughter of Ole and Margit (Knuteson) Torkelson. She grew up and attended school in the Equality township area.
In 1933 she was united in marriage to Steen Birkeland. For many years the couple operated Birkeland Farm Supply in Oklee. Steen died in 1976.
Carrie is survived by one sister, Margaret Linder of Clearbrook; one sister-in-law, Bernice Torkelson of Oklee; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
