
Roseau - Richard "Dick" Bird, 68, died Friday, June 2, 2000 at Roseau.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime. Interment was at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Hill Cemetery in International Falls. The Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Roseau was in charge of the arrangements.
Richard Eugene Bird was born on December 17, 1931 in Reine township of Roseau county, the son of Glen and Gunda (Haukom) Bird. He was baptized at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Skime and grew up and attended school in the Skime area.
Dick spent most of his adult life between International Falls and Roseau county. He worked at the paper mill in International Falls from 1957 until 1961 and then worked with his brother, Irving, in the car business in International Falls from 1961 until 1974. Later, he was self-employed with custom bulldozing and running his beef cattle farm.
He enjoyed working on the farm, hunting, camping and visiting with people.
Dick is survived by his special friend of 30 years, Violet Pilgrim; one brother, Irving (Frances) Bird of International Falls; two sisters, Beverly (Mike) Fangel of Champlin and Verna Carlsen of Sturgis, S.D.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one brother, Ronnie. A00003B2000JN07
