
Minneapolis - Marvin C. Benson, 87, died Tuesday, August 26, 1997 at his home in Minneapolis.
He was buried at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis on Thursday, August 28. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2 at Lake Nakomis Lutheran Church in Minnapolis.
Marvin C. Benson was born July 5, 1910 in Thief River Falls, the son of Severt and Betsy Benson. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and the University of Minnesota. While living in Thief River Falls, he was a five-time city tennis champion.
In 1946, Marvin was united in marriage to Julia Sleten. He was a career Internal Revenue Service agent retiring in 1974.
Marvin is survived by his wife, two daughters, Lynn (John) Hjlmeland of Edina and Jan of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; and one nephew, Robert Benson of McIntosh.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Garfield.
