
Strandquist - Randal "Randy" Bengtson, 38, died Wednesday, February 11, 1998 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14 at Westaker Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Reverend LeRoy Flinkinger officiating. Michael Olson was the organist, and Reverend Ken Thoreson was the soloist. Casketbearers were Kenneth Heggen, Vernon Smith, Greg Potucek, Peter Sang, Kelly Heggen and Lester Johnson. Randy's family and friends were the honorary casketbearers. Burial was held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Newfolden. The Green Funeral Home of Thief River Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Randal "Randy" Eldon Bengston was born April 11, 1959 in Thief River Falls, the son of Arnold and Janet (Jorgenson) Bengtson. He attended Newfolden Elementary School and graduated from Marshall County Central and Northland Technical College in the auto mechanics program.
On May 30, 1985 Randy was united in marriage to Faye Bjorgaard in Osseo. The couple recently renewed their vows at Westaker Lutheran Church in Newfolden. Randy has worked as a mechanic and was presently co-owner with Kenneth Heggen of Randy's Auto Service in Stephen.
Randy was a member of the Strandquist City Council, Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden, the Eagles club in Thief River Falls, the Newfolden Rod and Gun Club and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Randy is survived by his wife, Faye of Strandquist; two daughters, Lacy Bengtson and Elissa Swenson; one son, Joshua Myhrer; one grandson; his parents, Arnold and Marge Bengtson of Newfolden and Janet and Bob Collins of Lake Park; step-grandmother, Ruby Jorgenson of Argyle; two sisters, Barb (Bruce) Berg of Newfolden and Janelle (Craig) Tongen of Hopkins; several nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Hilton and Avis Hjelle of Newfolden; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
