Grand Forks, N.D. - Verna H. Bengs, 95, died Sunday, October 1, 2000 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, at Holmes (N.D.) United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Holmes Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, October 4) at Amundson Funeral Home.
Verna H. Griese was born on February 8, 1905 in Thompson, N.D., the daughter of Charles and Hannah (Herold) Griese. She lived in Aberdeen, S.D. before moving to Holmes, N.D.
In October of 1924, she married Walter Bengs. He died in January of 1973, and Verna moved to Grand Forks in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Eugene (Betty) Bengs of Thompson, N.D.; three daughters, Ruby (Kenneth) Schroeder of St. Hilaire, Dorothy Kositzky of Coeur d'alene, Id. and Lorraine (John) Schendel of Alexandria; a daughter-in-law, Beatrice Bengs of Fargo, N.D.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Alvin; a granddaughter, Cheri Kositzky; her parents; two brothers, Herman and Ezra; and a sister, Louise Lenz. A00003B2000OC04
