Red Lake Falls - Josephine Bendel, 85, died Sunday, January 23, 2000 at her home in Red Lake Falls.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 25 at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Rev. Curtis Brooks officiating. Lana Hughes was the organist. Casketbearers were Omer Sauve, Don Herding, Henry Wieland, Kenneth Wieland, Harold Hinrichs and Arlie Hams. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery in Red Lake Falls in the spring. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Agnes Josephine Berg was born on May 10, 1914 in Douglas, WY, the daughter of Nickolas E. and Agnes Cecelia (Anderson) Berg. She lived in Lovell, WY with her family until she was nine years old when they moved to Fosston where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Fosston High School. She then attended Lee Cosmetology School in Minneapolis. In 1940 she moved to Red Lake Falls where she opened a beauty shop.
Josephine was united in marriage to Leo Bendel on December 29, 1947 in Red Lake Falls. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls where she worked until her retirement in March of 1989.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Red Lake Falls. She was also a 52-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Josephine is survived by her husband, Leo of Red Lake Falls, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Rudolph Berg. A00003B2000JA26
