
Thief River Falls - Carl Beiswenger Jr., 94, died Sunday, September 26, 1999 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls.
Visitation will be held today (September 29) from 9 a.m. to noon at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. A committal service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 25 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Elaine Idso will be the organist, and Grace Hammer will be the soloist. Casketbearers will be Rodney Rothschadl, John Hammer, Ronald Philipp, Harry Bolstad, Maurice Stenseth and Harland Mostrom.
Carl Henry Beiswenger was born on February 24, 1905 in North of Fisher township in Polk county, the son of Carl Sr. and Clara (Liebert) Beiswenger. When he was three weeks old, Carl moved with his family to Smiley township in Pennington county where he was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended Hummer school. After leaving school, he farmed the family farm.
On October 17, 1934, Carol was united in marriage to Virginia Luhe in Thief River Falls. The couple farmed grain and dairy cattle until retiring in 1971 when they moved to Thief River Falls. Following the death of his brother, Herman, Carl and Virginia purchased the home farm of Carl Beiswenger Sr. where they lived for five years. He also worked for Ranum Construction for five years.
During his retirement years, Carl enjoyed planting trees, gardening, construction, wood crafts and painting.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; one son, Ronald Beiswenger of Bloomington; three daughters, Zona (Clayton) Pearson of East Grand Forks, Gwen (Tom) Paton of South Haven, MI and Ruth (John) Riedl of Ridgeway, CA; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Selma "Sally" Knutson of Thief River Falls.
Carl was preceded in death by his son, Russell Beiswenger; his parents; three brothers, Theodore, Herman and Bruno Beiswenger; and one sister, Augusta Ristau. A00003B1999SP29
