
Belview - Gertrude Becker, 89, died Friday, January 19, 2001 at Redwood Falls Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Burial was in Crestlawn Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home of Redwood Falls in charge of the arrangements.
Gertrude Pedersen was born on August 15, 1911 at Delhi, the daughter of Albert H. and Anna (Olson) Pedersen. She grew up in Delhi and graduated from Delhi High School. After earning a teaching degree from Mankato College, Gertrude taught in rural schools in the Redwood Falls area.
On June 29, 1938, she married Clifford Becker at Belview. The couple moved to Wylie. For 14 years, they resided there where they owned and operated a general store. In 1952, they moved to Thief River Falls. They owned and operated the T-59 Motel until 1970 when they sold the business and retired in Redwood Falls. After Clifford died on May 13, 1978, Gertrude continued to reside in Redwood Falls until 1999 when she moved to Belview.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. While residing in Thief River Falls, she was a member of a ladies aid.
Gertrude enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, bird watching and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Gerald (Karen) of Roseville; a daughter, Kay Anderson of Topeka, Kan.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Alvin Pedersen of Belview.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, parents and eight brothers and sisters. A00003B2000JA24
