Viking - A memorial service for Ardis Johnson Bartholome will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 29 at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking. Ardis Bartholome, 71, died Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at Seattle, Wash.
Ardis Johnson was born on August 10, 1928 at Viking, the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Simonson) Johnson. She grew up in the Viking community where she was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended school in Viking and graduated from Newfolden High School. She then attended Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks, N.D.
After graduating from college, Ardis worked in Thief River Falls prior to moving to Okanogon, Wash. There she met and married Darrell Bartholome on June 19, 1949. The couple moved to Renton, Wash. where Ardis worked for Sears for a number of years. After they moved to Spokane, Wash., she worked for Jacobson's Flower Shop. Following Darrell's death on November 23, 1998, Ardis moved to Seattle, Wash.
Survivors include three daughters, Marcia (Rocky) Smith, Valerie (Pat) Dore and Gayle Bartholome, all of Seattle; two sisters, Oryla Ohlgren of Hawley and Thoreen-June (Virgil) Fankhanel of Barnesville; three brothers, Ellery (Joann) Johnson of Greenbush, Darrell (Iris) Johnson of Cottage Grove and Willis (Joyce) Johnson of Viking; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Ferl and Leverne.
