Tacoma, WA - Florence Baldwin, 86, formerly of Red Lake Falls, died Friday, March 31, 2000 at Francisca Health System in Tacoma, WA.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Kathie Knott was the organist, and special music was provided by St. Joseph's Church Choir, St. Joseph's school children and Massimo and Lucy Mazzoni. Casketbearers were Dan Knott, Dave Kankel, Whitey Johnson, Keith Pearson, Bob Philion and Randy Sauve. Burial was in St. Joseph's Church Cemetery. The Petterson Funeral Home of Red Lake Falls was in charge of the arrangements.
Florence Perreault was born on October 17, 1913 in Terrebonne, the daughter of Ildage and Doria (LaFramboise) Perreault. When she was five years old, she moved with her family to Red Lake Falls where she attended St. Joseph's School through her sophomore year and then Lafayette High School, graduating in 1931. In 1932, she graduated from the school's teachers training department. Florence taught for a year in Oklee and a year in Ada before spending the balance of her 20-year teaching career teaching in rural schools in Red Lake county.
From 1952 until 1974, Florence lived in Anchorage, AK with her husband, Nate. They attended the cathedral and sang in the choir, and she was employed by Recuse Airlines for two years and B & C Electric in Anchorage for 20 years. After Nate's death she returned to Red Lake Falls. Since 1997, she was resided in Tacoma, WA, moving there to be closer to family.
Florence was a choir member at St. Joseph's Church and taught CCD for three years. She was also very active in volunteer work at the Children's Center and as secretary of the Keen Age Council.
Survivors include two sisters, Loretta Haskell of Oroville, CA and Agnes Turner of San Pablo, CA; four stepchildren, Mary Jane Bond of Tacoma, WA, Terry Baldwin of Olympia, WA, Gay Anne Jones of Castle Rock, WA and Deborah Reed of Medford, OR; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
