Newfolden - Harlan Bakke, 75, died Friday, April 30, 1999 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday, May 7) at 10:30 a.m. at Westaker Free Lutheran Church in Newfolden with Reverend LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Marge Olson will be the organist, and a vocal duet will be presented by Virgil and Marville Hjelle. Casketbearers will be David Bakke, Darrell Bakke, Austin Bakke, James Engelsrud,Tim Loeffler and Gordon Hall. Burial will be in Westaker Cemetery in New Folden township of Marshall county.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services at the church.

Harlan Marvin Bakke was born on December 7, 1923 in Marsh Grove township of Marshall county, the son of John and Randine (Haugen) Bakke. He was baptized and confirmed at Westaker Free Lutheran Church and attended Poplar Lane School. Harlan spent his entire life farming the family farm with his father and brother, raising grain and also cattle, chickens and pigs.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting with family and friends. He was a member of Westaker Free Lutheran Church.

Harlan is survived by one brother, Roy Bakke of Newfolden; one sister, Gladys Loeffler of Thief River Falls; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Magnus Bakke and Raymond Bakke; two sisters, Myrtle Hall and Jennie Miller; and one nephew, Harold Hall. A00003B1999MY05
